Amber

Born From The Dead

Amber is one of natures truly amazing gemstones. Created from fossilised pine tree resin, Amber can sometimes contain the mummefied remains of dead insects caught in the resin of the tree.

The rough uncut resin (splits) is generally available from two areas of the world. The Baltic States and the Dominican Republic. Although in fact the best Amber is found deep in the mountains of Ecuador.

The largest Amber mine is actually located in Russia. Just west of Kaliningrad, cheap rough amber is found in large quantities.

Known as the stone of the Sun, for it's fiery colour, Amber has been regarded as a jewel of high adornment for millenia.

The cost of Amber depending on the quality and the size can vary from a mere £10 to as much as £25,000 or more per jewel.

A timeless creation, Amber jewellery sets the wearer a person apart. It is highly regarded as a stunning yet simple jewel that the wearer can have adorning them without appearing over dressed.
